I was born in 1972, in the "Small Wonder" State of Delaware. I grew up in Milton, a town located in the southeastern part of the state, close to several beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and the Delaware Bay. In September 1996, I graduated from Drexel University (Philadelphia) with an M.S. in Library and Information Science. Most of my courses and research were related to public libraries or library technical services, since my interests and career goals lie in such applications. For further professional development, I belong to the American Library Association (ALA), the Public Library Association (PLA), and the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS).
My husband, Philip M. Tolbert, works for one of General Electric's corporate sites in Princeton, New Jersey. After transferring in early 1998 from G.E.'s Capital Mortgage site in St. Louis, Missouri, we are now settled into our new home in scenic Bucks County, Pennsylvania. One of my treasured memories from our time in the Midwest is volunteerning in the St. Charles City-County Library District, where I helped to design web pages for young adults. My husband and I also made many dear Christian friends while living in that area, and we miss them very much.
In my leisure time, I enjoy reading books (especially young-adult novels), solving puzzles, baking, clipping coupons, and watching movies and TV. My husband and I regularly watch together Friends (NBC), 7th Heaven (WB), Dharma & Greg (ABC), and a few others. We also enjoy watching Mad About You reruns in syndication, and we love those game shows! Other interests of mine include computer programming, genealogy, and Louisa May Alcott. I own several of the books she wrote and am always eager to read and collect information about her.
